These are the latest 4 blocks I have made for the Around the World Quilting bee. I hope the ladies like them

I was getting fed up of paying nearly €4 for a loaf of reasonable bread that I wanted to make my own. The search for bread flour started. The supermarket sells all sorts of (expensive) bread mixes, but I wanted some ordinary strong flour so I could do what I wanted and I knew exactly what was going in my bread. If you watch Jimmy’s Food Factory on BBC1, you will know what I mean.Eventually I found some large bags in the cash and carry and we haven’t bought a loaf of bread in about 6 weeks. It is so simple, so quick and delicious. Now I’m off to have some toast and homemade plum jam.

A few weeks ago……

……. I stepped out of my comfort zone of hiding behind a computer and stepped out into the big world and said. “Hi I’m Anita, and I love to sew”

30 of my friends from in and around The Hague were invited round to my house for tea and coffee and to look (and buy) my Heart of Holland items.

I made a few different things that I don’t sell in my online store, like some doorstops.

I made some pretty canvas bags, to fold in your handbag for any purchases made when out and about.

Some fabric drinks coasters, because you can never have enough

The day was such a success I have been busy with custom orders ever since. I will definately be having another open house, it was a lot of fun.

I am really busy getting ready for an open house I am having this Friday, but I just had to share this with you.

Jade at Craft Hope has just posted about Project 5, go and check it out. If you can get involved, please do, or maybe you could get involved in something similar in your town.

At the beginning of September it was my birthday. I had a lovely day where we went out for pancakes (a dutch speciality) topped with bacon and apple, then we headed off to Haarlem in search of this shop. My parents had sent me some money in my card, so where better to spend it than a shop that sells Cath Kidston and Greengate. Bliss!

I picked up a set of 2 tea towels and these gorgeous spoons made from pottery.

A set of tins. My husband asked what I was going to use them for, I quickly answered ”for cakes”, which satisfied him enough to stop me feeling guilty for being frivolous!

I then popped in to Dille & Kamille on the way back to the car and bought a jam funnel, 2 rolls of red and white string and a couple of little baskets. Perfect

Oh and we even managed to get a babysitter so we could go out for a nice meal, shame the babysitter has now gone off to University in the UK……

I got a little bit behind with the Around the World quilting Bee recently, but over this past week i have cracked on and thankfully I am all caught up now. Here they all are all stacked up nicely!

I haven’t done much over the summer, but here are a few things that are now available in my shop. Go check them out, there are some great gift ideas.

As promised here are a couple of the half decent pictures of the ripple (Another Attic 24 pattern). I’m not sure what it is but the colour seems a bit weird. Anyway it is all finished up and sitting on the back of the chair waiting for the colder evenings which I fear are getting close.

Be assured the colour is delightful and it is such a lovely blanket, all soft and snuggly and suprisingly heavy.

This last shot shows the blanket sitting next to the hexagon (Lucy from Attic 24’s pattern). Gorgeous crochet side by side.

Now back to crocheting the next blanket….

Hello again. Sorry for the long break, but things have been busy around here. There have been birthdays, visitors, severe back pain, holidays to Normandy and the remainder of the school holidays. The time has flown really quickly, I can’t really believe we are in September.

I thought I would give you an update on my crochet. I finished my ripple blanket at the beginning of August, I will show you that soon. I can’t seem to capture the true colour though.

So I quickly ordered some new yarn, I love Rowan wool, and set too on a blanket, just like the gorgeous Lucy’s at Attic 24. I feel like I am her afghan stalker, she makes a new blanket, then so do I. I can’t help it. It’s an addiction!

Above is a pile of squares waiting to be blocked. Never blocked before, I love the result though, but I have found it to a bit fiddly. I wish I had one of those blocking boards, but we can’t have everything though can we?

You can really see the difference when they are side by side. Scrumptious colours, don’t you think?

I’m not sure how many more I need to make, but one things for sure I am going to need to order some more yarn. Yippee! Off to the yarn store, well the virtual one anyway.

Some more beautiful Heather Ross fabric with spots to go with the horses and dogs. This fabric is so soft I am still stroking it!!
