Skirt and Quilt

After a lot of deliberation I have decided not to change the colour of the sea on the LMPQG quilt/wall hanging! Well to be fair, I couldn’t find an alternative and decided if I left it any longer it wouldn’t get done. Anyway I have pin basted it today and it is ready to quilt probably on Monday when I have a bit more time. Housework has called shouted at me today so there is only so much I can do.

My daughters Sunday Brunch Jacket has also been completed. I chose to cover some buttons in some red fabric I bought in Ikea and today I have made a skirt using the tutorial on House on Hill Road to match. All that needs to be done is check my daughters waist when she gets in from school so I can finish off the elastic and I am done.

Enjoy your weekend

Shopping and placemats…

Had a great morning yesterday, I went with a couple of friends to the Haagse Markt which apparently is the largest outdoor market in Europe. Some of the stalls were amazing, and there were plenty of bargains. I picked up a load of zips, some spotty fabric, and some meat and veg. By the time I go again I intend to buy one of those pull along trolleys like my Grandma used to have to do her shopping with because by the time we had finished walking round, got the tram back and then got home my fingers were going blue with the weight of the bags. Ouch! I would really love one of these Orla Kiely ones but really will have to have something a little less expensive!

My husband comes back from Libya today so I will have to do some jobs around the house to make it look like I do something whilst he is out at work. With all the damp weather we have had recently the garden has sprung into life and so it needs a jolly good tidy up, so i will have to add that to my list of things to do.

Placemat

A while ago I made this placemat. I started making them, made 2 and then realised I didn’t have enough fabric to make a set of 4 which was my intention, I still haven’t got around to buying more of the same fabric, so I will probably just have to get them out when we have a cosy meal for 2.

On the subject of placemats I also made these during the summer and they have come in really handy when having cold drinks that may sweat. I made them from a pattern in this book and although you can not see the quilting – they are quilted!

Lazy Day

Sunday was a lazy day, enjoying a beautiful sunny day. It was however cold and the heating clicked on for the first time which was a bit of a surprise. The children went outside after breakfast, around 8.30 to play in the garden and promptly came back inside to put on more clothes. In fact my son ended up with 3 jumpers on!

Husband is away in Libya – apparently staying in a Butlins-esque chalet. Sounds strange, but apparently the weather is delightfully warm. Don’t tell the children.

Boat Quilt

I have been deliberating over this quilt top from Joelle Hoversons book for a week or so, I’m not sure what to do about the sea bit. In reality it looks like I have run out of the lovely spotted fabric used for the sky and added a bit of plain blue on the bottom. I have been searching locally for something to replace it and have had no luck, so will have to go online and see what there is. Any excuse to shop!
