ATWQ Bee

IMG_7739

I completed another of my Around the World Quilting bee blocks this week. The theme on this set appeared to be butterflies, so I did a little applique and was quite pleased with the outcome.

I only had one mishap on this one, when I ran the rotary cutter through the corner, so a little hasty patching had to be administered. Oops!

Woohoo look at my quilt block!

I have to say I am very proud, very proud indeed of my efforts for the next round in the Around the World Quilting bee. After the last attempt which was a little wonky, despite your kind words saying that you thought it was meant to be wonky, I wanted to have another go at triangles.

And whoppity do check it out

ATWQ block

Good hey? OK, you don’t have to answer, but you can tell I am impressed with myself.

Now I just need to find time, in between making 4 aprons for the class teachers, making items to stock the shop and coping with all the crazy end of term things, to make the next block.

Until next time…….

Yummy cookies

I have recently had a thing about baking cookies, I don’t know why. Apart from the fact I LOVE eating them. For a while it was cupcakes, followed by more cupcakes, but now it is definitely cookies.

Coconut cookies

These were the delicious ones I baked up the other day. The recipe was taken from the BBC Good Food magazine March 2007, and the basic recipe can be found on their website. All you need to do is add 100g dessicated coconut, roll the dough into small balls, push your thumb in the middle to make a dip and fill with a little jam.

Cookies

Yum, Yum, enjoy with a nice cup of tea.

Hot, hot, hot.

Well, I have been a bit quiet in Blogland recently, it’s generally been quite relaxed and non-productive round these parts. I think it is the weather. We are in the middle of a heatwave and although glorious, our house is extemely poorly insulated soit  is like a freezer in the winter and a sauna in the summer. It certainly isn’t making me want to sew. Mustn’t complain though, I love the blue blue skies and the warm evenings, it is glorious.

However, despite the heat, I did get these booties and hankies made quickly today before it got too warm.

They are for this wonderful project. Please click on the link and check it out, there are some special children who need your help and you don’t even have to sew.

UPDATE:  The pattern for the booties can be found here if you fancy giving them a try.

Quilt Block

You may remember that I am part of this quilting bee. This was block number 5 on someone’s quilt. I haven’t done triangles before and realise now that I really need more practice to get them lined up right because the centre square is a little off. I think it gives the block ‘character’. I hope the recipient doesn’t mind!

Poncho

I have been searching for a poncho pattern for my daughter for ages and ages. I am a cheap skate and only wanted a free one, so it was taking a great deal of time trawling the internet.

Anyway, the other day I happened across this pattern, loved the colours, ordered the yarn and picked up the crochet hook a few days later when the yarn was delivered in my post box.

And ta-da. Here it is in all it’s glory. I love it. It was quick and simple to make and most importantly it is loved by my daughter.

Until next time.

I’m a winner, I’m a winner…

Yep, I’m a winner.

A few weeks ago I couldn’t believe it when I saw my name here. There was a great deal of deep breathing required.

Giveaway fabric

Anyway, this is what I chose to buy with my gift certificate. Doesn’t it all look so scrummy and gorgeous. I love fabric, infact, I feel I’m getting a tad obcessed at the moment, I have caught myself stroking these goodies. Do you think I have lost my mind or is it just what happens when you get such a huge pile of fabric for free?  Do let me know!

Randi is such a generous woman, please go check out her shop, she has so many lovely fabrics and her service is excellent. I will definately be going back to shop.

Thanks Randi, you made my day. xx

Until next time………
